Finite-size instabilities in finite-range forces

چکیده

It has been recently shown that some Gogny finite-range interactions suffer from finite-size instabilities in coordinate-space calculations [Eur. Phys. J. A 55, 150 (2019)]. We confirm this finding by using the Hartree-Fock (HF) method quasilocal approximation to forces. The use of substantially simplifies as compared with those including exact exchange contribution energy and HF fields. quantity most affected is spatial density at origin wildly oscillates iterative process proceeds. In addition recent ${\mathrm{D1M}}^{*}$ parametrization force, we find D1M also shows deficiency several nuclei. harmonic-oscillator basis its ultraviolet cutoff provides converged results a wide realistic range sizes. This result serves justification numerous finite nuclei show no trace instability.

Lyapunov Instability and Finite Size Effects in a System with Long-Range Forces

We study the largest Lyapunov exponent l and the finite size effects of a system of N fully coupled classical particles, which shows a second order phase transition. Slightly below the critical energy density Uc, l shows a peak which persists for very large N values sN 20 000d. We show, both numerically and analytically, that chaoticity is strongly related to kinetic energy fluctuations. In t...

Finite-Size Scaling and Long-Range Interactions

The present review is devoted to the problems of finite-size scaling due to the presence of long-range interaction decaying at large distance as 1/rd+σ, where d is the spatial dimension and the long-range parameter σ > 0. Classical and quantum systems are considered. 1. Finite-size systems and critical phenomena A common wisdom is that the singularities in the thermodynamic functions at a criti...

Long range forces induced by neutrinos at finite temperature

We revisit and extend previous work on neutrino mediated long range forces in a background at finite temperature. For Dirac neutrinos, we correct existing results. We also give new results concerning spin-independent as well as spin-dependent long range forces associated to Majorana neutrinos. An interesting outcome of the investigation is that, for both types of neutrinos whether massless or n...

Approximate particle number projection for finite range density dependent forces.

The Lipkin-Nogami method is generalized to deal with finite range density dependent forces. New expressions are derived and realistic calculations with the Gogny force are performed for the nuclei 164 Er and 168 Er. The sharp phase transition predicted by the mean field approximation is washed out by the Lipkin-Nogami approach. A much better agreement with the experimental data is reached with ...

Finite-size effects in dynamics of zero-range processes.

The finite-size effects prominent in zero-range processes exhibiting a condensation transition are studied by using continuous-time Monte Carlo simulations. We observe that, well above the thermodynamic critical point, both static and dynamic properties display fluidlike behavior up to a density ρc(L), which is the finite-size counterpart of the critical density ρc=ρc(L→∞). We determine this de...
